What is the eMatrix laser?
Complete facial rejuvenation treatment for ablation, resurfacing, and skin tightening. The eMatrix laser consists of two treatments that may be combined: Fraxel for Skin Resurfacing, and the Sublime for Skin Tightening! When the two treatments are combined, patients achieve dermal remodeling and textural improvement at the same time.
How can it be used?
The Fraxel Skin Resurfacing treatment is a new category of fractional skin treatments. Its fractionated bi-polar RF technology uses heat energy to encourage significant increases of collagen and elastin in the upper dermis – with low epidermal disruption for a broad range of skin types. Over the series of three to five treatments, this treatment tightens surface loose skin, improves fine lines and wrinkles, improves the appearance of stretch marks, scars and large pores, and improves overall skin color (more evenly pigmented), tone and texture.
The Sublime Skin Tightening treatment uses the elōs® system to combine levels of infrared (IR) light and bi-polar radio frequency (RF) energies to remodel the deep dermal layer of the skin by stimulating new collagen growth. This predictable heating of the deep dermis stimulates and shortens aged collagen fibers, resulting in immediate and long-term improvement of wrinkles.
EMATRIX PRE/POST CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Prior to treatment
- Please anticipate for several days of downtime after your treatment. Redness, swelling, peeling, and possible scabbing is to be expected after your treatment.
- Do not use self-tanning lotions or tanning booths two weeks prior to your treatment. Do not sunbathe two weeks prior to your appointment. Any patient arriving with a tan or sunburn may be rescheduled due to the sensitivity of the procedure.
- Please use SPF 50+ on a daily basis to protect your skin from being compromised.
- Do not use exfoliating scrubs, cleansers, or treatments for a minimum of 1 week prior to treatment. Please wait at least 4 weeks post chemical peel to schedule your eMatrix Fraxel.
- Discontinue use of Tretinoin type products (Renova, Tretinoin, Retin A, Retin A Micro, Tri-Luma, Solage, etc.) or Hydroquinone at least 7 to 10 days prior to treatment.
- If you have a history of cold sores, begin prophylactic treatment with Valtrex or similar before coming in for your eMatrix appt. If you are prone to cold sores, please contact our office for instructions.
- Avoid high doses of Ibuprofen, Aleve, Advil and other non-steroidal, anti-inflammatories for 1 to 2 weeks prior to and/or after your treatment.
- Areas of dental crowns, caps, braces, or other metal dental implants may be more sensitive to treatment. Please reschedule your eMatrix appt if you have or had any oral surgeries within 6-8 weeks from your appt.
Post Treatment
- Wait 24 hours before washing your face, or treated areas. Then you may gently wash treated areas with the Gentle Cleanser we provided you with in-office.
- After your eMatrix treatment, your skin will feel like it has a sunburn. To minimize contact with bacteria please refrain from touching the areas that have been treated, and do not apply any cold compress or ice packs. You may use a handheld fan to cool down for comfort.
- Please use your hands to wash treated areas, no not use a wash cloth, or any facial cleansing brushes (i.e. Clarisonic brushes.)
- After cleansing treated area(s) (24 hours post treatment), apply moisturizer and sunscreen we provided you with. Continue to apply sunscreen of 30 SPF or higher that contains Zinc on a daily basis to prevent sun damage from occurring and disrupting your results.
- If you are out in the sun, you MUST apply sunscreen, and reapply every 2 hours!
- Your skin will have tiny pinpoint scabs starting 24-72 hours after your treatment. This is normal and is an indication that the skin is healing. You can expect this to last for several days as your skin repairs. Do not itch, touch or pick at your skin as this will disrupt healing and may cause you to hyper/hypo pigment or scar. Allow the tiny scabs to naturally shed off on their own.
- Avoid thermal trauma such as hot showers, steam rooms, saunas, whirlpool, etc. for minimum 5 days post your treatment.
- Avoid exercising or anything that will make you sweat for minimum 48 hrs following the treatment.
- Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications for 1 week following treatment i.e. Ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, Excedrine, Nuprin, etc.
